Establishment of SLSQC
The Sri Lanka Society for Quality Control (SLSQC) was established with Mr. Mallory Wijesinghe, then Chairman of Ceylon Cold Stores as the President. It became a member of the OPA in 1977 and still continues to be so.
Growth and Development
When established, the main objective was to promote quality control in industry. Quality management and productivity management became vitally needed for growth under the open economy, leading to the need for a dedicated institute.
Inauguration of IQPM
The IQPM Sri Lanka was formally inaugurated under the aegis of SLSQC at the Professional Centre of OPA on 22nd May 2015. All Members of SLSQC were admitted to the Institute of Quality and Productivity Management.

Corporate Assistance
The Institute wishes to be of assistance to any corporate agency to improve and make effective use of their quality management systems.
Public-Private Cooperation
It intends to work with the cooperation of public and private sector organizations to promote quality and productivity development.
